Commonwealth games opening ceremony 2006 melbourne!hehe, so i didn't actually plan to watch the opening ceremony at federation square. we were just supposed to hang out and watch a movie or something in the city today. met up at flinders street and it was already miling with people everywhere..even people wearing flags to support their countries :p
this is flinder's street in the afternoon when we met up. people and more people.
anyway, as i type i'm trying to upload photos but it's taking ages ._. yep. after quibbling for ages about where to eat (seriously, girls are terrible at making decisions, and yes, i'm definitely one of the worse ones) for everyone out there who doesn't know yet : never ever ever ask me to decide anything because i can't. it's just easier for the world if i don't decide you know. so we eventually ended up at the melbourne central food court coz we figured everyone would be happy there. *satisfying both jan+zhen's sushi cravings and melinas urm..red silk..lol..obsession i guess. i got sushi too even though i don't really like sushi. i suddenly felt like it. you know, i'm not really a japanese food person. i am very against soba noodles or whatever. -.- those yucky green stringy noodles with soy sauce. urgh. no offence to any jap food lovers out there. yes, i took forever to decide which sushi to get and which drink to get too. i know, i know, it's supposed to be a simple decision. =x it's just this problem i have.

jan and mel insisted on going into bread top to smell the buns. this is them with their favourite curry bun. bread top is a ripoff from singapore's bread talk.
bena, melina and zhen at mc hoyts halfpipe cinema with the beanie bags and cool candy baskets :p we wanted to go there but the timings were bad and so were the movies, so we went to crown instead.
on the way we stopped by qv.
this is me striding very purposefully and determinedly to reach max brenner's even though we just had lunch. :p can't stop severe addicts like me. zhen is sort of trailing behind.
fine. we can't have chocolate. can we just take a picture with my favourite man? ladies and gentlemen, meet max brenner, my soulmate. i just know i'm meant to be with him someday. maybe if i'm lucky he'll build me a chocolate castle like willy wonka did for prince pondicherry.
just can't get enough of max brenner's.

at this point, jan felt that she had to clarify herself. she announced very loudly to the people on the tram : everyone, we are from melbourne, not china!!
there's some sort of float parade on the yarra river :)we finally got off the tram and started walking to crown. we spotted an underpass and happily went in.
we decided to take a stupid picture since there was no one in the underpass but this wasn't stupid enough.
so we took this. jan is like -.-" i refuse.
we are such losers. we discovered why no one was using the underpass. why would they when they can just walk across the road?!

i couldn't kick her in the bum and walk at the same time.
on the way to crown there was someone playing the accordion very woefully and singing some rendition of an old chinese song we all knew :p the one about the moon and the heart. we sang along quite loudly but forgot most of the words. here janean discovered that melina was a grade six in the accordion -.- lol. loserrrr. imagine melina playing the accordion squeezing it in and out very happily and dancing very energetically.
crown was funny. i spotted this tiny little girl and i was like "oooh" and i was very determined to take a picture with her :p so i stalked her for like 10m coz little toddlers sort of don't walk in a straight line.
the mum is getting very suspicious of me. notice how she's trying to turn and look at me while pretending she's not.eventually i got my picture :P teehee..she is tiny in the photo and she's like looking up at this big big giant (which is me) and i'm grinning very happily. like "haha loser you're so small *evil grin*
i am very happy i have my picture with the little kid. i ran off very quickly before the mother came up to like strangle me or something. teehee. i am so tall in this photo. :p

there was no mojojojo head or the professor head for bena and zhen so they had to amuse themselves.

they are chocolate roses :p so much better than real roses.

i insisted that melina and bena endorse the china bar since they are from china. :p
we sort of got everyone's faces in. this is a big achievement.
i love their bums. :p they were ordering kfc to sneak into the movie.
as you can see, i like reflective surfaces.
somehow people look different in mirrors.
i like her expression. for those who don't know, this is bena's normal daily expression captured. she walks around like this all the time every day. on rare ocassions she smiles.
melina has a stroke of genius. she wants it right up the anal area, in her words.
thereupon my camera died =( or i would have a whole gallery of commonwealth opening ceremony 06 pictures for all of you.
anyway, out of desperation we watched the date movie. oh my goodness. worse movie ever. disgusting and ugghgh..entirely too graphic. i do not want to know how liquid fat looks like, thank you very much. well, i didn't want my sushi anymore. i left it under the chair and forgot about it :p lol. we got in the theatres, and melina and janean started arguing about whether daniel radcliffe lives in melbourne.
melina : daniel radcliffe's studying in tafe in melbourne!
janean: no he's not, why would daniel radcliffe come here to study tafe? *tafe is like ite or poly in singapore.*
melina : i swear he is!!
*random group of guys come in and sit behind us*
melina (turning behind to them) : hey, do you guys know daniel radcliffe?
guys : yer.. why?
melina : he lives in melbourne yea?!!!
everyone : ....... -.-"

melina : hey what school are you guys from?
guys : camberwell grammar.
melina + janean : oh! do you know moses?!!

they are funny. :p after awhile jan suddenly goes: melina, i think your period is leaking on the chair. very very loudly indeed o.O"
anyway, halfway during the movie, isaac called and we decided to stuff the movie and go out cos it was really getting unbearably disgusting. seriously. the dad had six nipples and he was like "would you like to milk me" .. -.- and yer.. the cat was having explosive diarrhoea and the girl had like this frkin big mole like the size of a frkin 50c coin with like four hairs growing out of it *shudder* ergh so disgusted thinking about it.
then we met up with isaac..and lol..took..more..photos.. =p isaac was very amused by our teenybopperness :p and mildly "ugh" over our sticky photos. lol. anyway, then everyone sort of pointlessly aimlessly passed the next hour or so and by then, isaac got hungry and went to get kfc. it was only bena, jan, isaac and me by then. melina was supposed to meet some guy whom i insist is indian (anyway he ditched her and went home so she went home too), and bena and zhen went home. the line was like..freaking long. never seen such a long queue for kfc before.-.- you'd think melbourne starves or something.so in conclusion we decided to watch the opening ceremony at federation square. when we first walked into federation square i was like ..hey its not that many people..to isaac..and he was like..yer..coz they're all sitting down ._. and there was like this ..big big patch of humans on the ground of federation facing the big screen. me:... lol. we sort of stood around and i sniffed smoke ._. so i was like.. errh..lets move..someone's smoking. very very loudly. to my horror the lady in front turned behind and smiled apologetically with her cigarette. ...we got seats at the bottom of the stairs and we reaaally couldnt see anything. somehow we kept on getting moved upwards and eventually landed a spot right at the top of the stairs with an awesome view of everything. :) and the fireworks started..why oh why couldn't my camera have worked.. it was 4735734875328975 times better than any ndp thing in singapore.. there was a flying tram and jan and tiffo got very excited indeed when chris's face flashed on the screen for two whole seconds..then the countries started coming out..man there were people from like the weirdest nationalities coz some random african country..the screen boomed "the gambia!" or something like that and this group of people started hollering and dancing. everyone was like -.-" riiiight. lol. and then they go "singapore!" and me jan and maybe isaac (he could've been drowned out) went crazily loud :p and they flashed some paralympic on the screen and jan and i just cracked up we were like "hahahahahahah cripple". isaac was like -.-" hes a paralympic. and when australia came out everyone in federation stood up and sang the national anthem. and some white suited guy came on screen and tiffo was like "whos that" jan went "the kfc man" and tiffo said.. "reeeeeeeaaally" in a very fascinated tone. ._. lol!!! and then when the flag came out there was this doggie, and jan and i were like..o.O look the commonwealth doggie..lol!! and isaac goes..i think hes blind. us: oh. hehehe all in all it was very fun and we got very silly indeed :p the queen was like, very very grumpy. she didn't even look appreciative when some opera lady sang happy birthday for her 80th. by the way, i will never name my kid harry. it's the sort of kid that will turn out in mcg to address a grumpy and unappreciative queen of england. she was like..yer yer yer..whatever..it's just like, y'know, the whole country of australia wishing me happy birthday..been there done that..my contacts kept on irritating me and it was the most painful thing when jan whipped her head around and her hair just went straight into my eye. gosh, it was packed. at the end of everything, delta goodrem sang and the fireworks came out again!! so prettttyy. :p i love fireworks. seriously. 435932723875 better than singapore's ndp fireworks. it's not everyday that melbourne hosts the commonwealth games. i would've killed to be in one of those helicopters. their view must've been perfect!! i was quite glad we stayed.:p my mum was very worried indeed. she keeps on thinking that federation square is gonna get bombed by a plane or some suspicious looking arab with a turban and shifty eyes. -.- my mum has a very very anxious nature. she has this hoard of advice for me like "if any indian stranger comes and sits next to you or something, get up quickly and walk over to where an adult is standing." or stuff like "if theres anyone who looks very suspicious on the trains, quickly get off at the next stop and get out of the train" yeeees mum. she is very paranoid, especially about indians or bangladeshis or whatever. that's just my mum. i like crowds. crowds are sort of nice to get lost in once in awhile, unless you're really really lost. like, as in, don't know where you are lost. on the tram back, i fell asleep coz isaac was really quiet. according to him, people were eavesdropping on our conversation. so very..:p suspicious. seriously, i can't even be stuffed with blogging much now. it was so good, you just had to have been there. i am so inspired i wanna go for the closing ceremony now :p
